In February 2011, the Tibetan Healing Fund celebrated their tenth anniversary. The organization works to improve maternal and child health care and increase educational opportunities for rural Tibetan communities.
In 2001, THF project sites began in the Tso-Ngon Province also formerly known as Amdo (Ch: Qinghai). By 2006, THF expanded to other Tibetan regions of Kham and U-Tsang also known as Gansu, Sichuan, Yunnan Provinces and the Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR).
Under the leadership of Dr. Kunchok Gyaltsen, a medical doctor and Buddhist monk, TGH partners with local organizations such as universities, hospitals, local schools, village leaders, and local education and health bureaus to assist the most disadvantaged Tibetan communities.
GreaterGood.org supports THF's efforts to provide better maternal healthcare through Gifts That Give More [tm] and gave an additional emergency grant to the group earlier in 2010 for earthquake relief.
