The Animal Rescue Site Shelter+ Challenge with Petfinder offers new opportunities throughout 2013 for your organization to win grants or supplies to help your shelter do what it does best — help rescue, care for, and find loving homes for animals.
We've provided a variety of fun ways to reach out and get your supporters involved. You are absolutely welcome to modify and distribute these materials as you see fit - on your website, in e-mails to your supporters, in press releases, and on your social networks. We encourage you try them all!

Involving your local media and community is another great way to increase your chances. Invite a photographer to take pictures of the pets up for adoption, and make sure copies are sent to your local newspaper. Check in with your local media and supporters during voting rounds. Make this an opportunity to discuss the ongoing needs of your organization, and heighten awareness of what you do in your community.
Finally, the staff at The Animal Rescue Site wishes you and your organization the best of luck. Thank you for participating, and thank you for all the hard work you do for rescued animals. We hope to see you at the finish line!
This round has many special prizes. The complete list is available under the voting box on the first page of the Challenge.
Be sure to communicate to your group that you do not have to be in the top ten overall to win something. With more than 240 prizes available, chances have never been greater for any shelter or animal rescue group. Use the tools below to spread the word and don't forget to tell people how to adopt from your group too!!
The Dark Horse prizes will go to groups who have never won anything in a Challenge -- so if you were a state winner last year or 2008 Grand Prize winner, you can't qualify. But if your group has never won a prize, go for it!
The photo and story contests usually have fewer entries (and less competition) than some of the other categories. This is a great place to start for new participants or groups located in heavily contested regions. Remind your supporters that if they enter the Flash Photo Contest, they must include the name of your shelter or rescue group, along with your location as it shows up in the voting database (city/state, etc), for their picture to qualify for a prize. Complete rules are available on the photo or story entry page.

This downloadable flyer in Word is really easy to customize. Post it in your window - and encourage local businesses, coffeeshops, libraries, or schools to post it in theirs, too!
Have some extra time? Make up a flyer to hand out with a "back page" on adoptable pets available from your group.
After downloading the Word document, open it in Word and set View to "print layout" in order to see flyer and artwork. If you do not have Word installed on your computer, check your normal word processing software to see if it can open a Word doc or ask a friend if they can open a copy on their computer. OpenOffice.org software and Gmail Drive will also handle Word documents.
Clip and paste the following into an e-mail to your supporters or adapt it into a press release for your local media! Voting begins on January 7 and continues through April 28, 2013.
