There was an auction at our county shelter and i thought there might be some farm equipment.

Included on the list was "one small grey pot belly pig". I was the only one to show up, and the staff said,

"Yea! She's here for the pig!" Hector was the strangest little grunty creature, too big to be cuddly but still fascinating! He had been running loose and picked up by animal control a month earlier but no one claimed him.

I bid the $9 cash I had in my wallet, official paperwork completed, and the shelter let me borrow a large carrier.

They told me he ate dry dog food, and likes playing in water. Hector was loaded in my truck and came home to live at Runamuk Ranch. Was my partner ever surprised to see a pet pot belly pig! Hector moved right in with

our two goats, tearing and rooting up the yard. His diet changed to PB pig chow and fruits and veggies.

Hector was neutered and we built him his own little shed. When he saw his new house he actually ran in and danced a jig!

Hector moved with us to a larger farm and shares it peacefully with many rescue critters including a young

female PB pig named Pearl. He is about 5 yrs now, a champion excavator, and amusing friend.
