Highway Kitty
Barnee was truly a RESCUED KITTY! As I was driving to work, I saw someone drop something out of their vehicle window, and it hit the inside tire of the truck in front of me, and was flung to the center divider on the highway. I originally was upset because I thought someone had thrown their trash out - then it occurred to me that it might have been some kind of animal because it seemed to have run to the cement wall divider. I drove a few miles to the exit so I could turn around. When I got back to the place in the highway, I saw a tiny orange kitten with blood on it's face clinging to the cement divider. I could not believe that anyone could be so cruel as to throw a tiny kitten onto a highway. We have named the highway kitty Barnee. He has healed wonderfully without any signs of the trauma he endured, and is a beautiful fluffy addition to our family that now consists of 2 rescued dogs and 3 rescued cats. If I would have been on the highway a few moments earlier or later, Barnee certainly would have died. I have heard people say "angels fall from heaven", but in our case, an angel was tossed out of a car window. We all are truly blessed!

The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food and vital care for some of the eight million unwanted animals given to shelters every year in the U.S., as well as animals in desperate need around the world. Over four million animals are put to death each year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted.
