About 9 years ago next month, while driving up the 5 freeway & 2 miles from T.J. boarder, I noticed a moving brown object next to the concrete median about 300 yards going north. After some "Fast & Furious" driving, & a lot of breath holding, I somehow managed to get about 100 ft behind it & realized it was a Chihuahua, then though "crap, now I am going to end up scaring it into traffic F*^k, Buddha is soo gonna get me."

But instead while I was searching my car for anything to entice him, I look down & there is the most gentle little face looking up at me. So I thought what the heck & asked if he wanted a ride? His cute, huge ears perked up & he jumped right in the driver seat, I started laughing, all the while cars zooming by & honking, but I kind of chided him, saying "sorry dude, no thumbs, no driving". For the next 2 months I posted signs, put him on the ASPC site, & other ways to try to find his family. But no one came close to describing him.

So here we are on the eve of our 9th year, he is my best friend, soul mate & the VA made him my PTSD companion animal. I know I will never make the same bond that I have with Harvey with any other living creature. He has given me love & strength when I had none left, he has licked away thousands of tears, cuddled with me when in intense pain & yup, started me down when I have gotten too cranky for him!

He is my hero, soul mate and best friend.

I love you, Mr. Wallbanger, thank you for rescuing me!
