In 2009 this tiny ball of fur was wondering my neighborhood. I watched as she spent most her time at the neighbors, It was bothering me that she was so tiny and out there alone. I saw the neighbor in her yard so I watched as she was acting like the kitty wasn't there. Well that did it! I went over and ask her if that was her kitty? She said no, someone had dropped her off. I don't know who was more cruel, the one that dropped her off or the one that was gonna let her starve? I asked could I take her, she gladly said yes. My daughter and I fell in love. Within a few days, after a warm bath and her belly full she was clearly the boss. When she was 2 at our new house where she loved being outside. I was leaving for work with no idea that Lexie was up in my truck. I drove about a mile and was slowing at a light when I felt a bump. I looked in my mirror and I saw her running. My heart just sank! Time I was turned around, she was gone. I looked and couldn't find her. I reached out to my FUR friends, animal control and made posters offering a reward. Every day for 3 weeks after work I searched with no luck. Finally a call, they said a cat was seen that looked like Lexie. I rushed over! I called out to her and I could here her calling me from under a shed. I couldn't believe she was alive! So dirty, hungry and obviously injured. I scooped her up and went straight to the Vet. X-ray showed her hip was shattered. The Vet said he could fix her so she went straight to surgery. It was a long recovery, and I wasn't sure if she'd ever be able to run and jump. She's now 4 and you would never know she has an artificial hip. I have rescued many cats but she's the only one I have rescued twice.
