I rescued my dog Billie right off the street, before she was ever taken to animal control. I was driving across town one Saturday afternoon on a busy six-lane thoroughfare. Suddenly I saw a yellow mutt begin to run into the street. I slammed on my brakes, as did two other cars in the lanes next to me, thankfully. She stood there in front of my truck, not even knowing enough to run back onto the grass. Our eyes met, and I knew I had to save her. I stopped and bought some beef jerky and went back to where I'd seen her and was able to lure her close enough with the beef jerky so that I could grab her collar. I put her in my truck and took her home to meet my 3 other dogs. She was really scared and shy at first, and was no more than 6-8 months old. I knew she had been living outside for quite some time, as her collar was very tight on her neck and the metal parts of it were rusted. And she was filthy! She soon got acquainted with the dogs and a very bubbly, feisty personality came out. She watches TV with me and barks whenever she sees any kind of animal on a show. She's hilarious! She's been a wonderful addition to our pack!
