Alfie: The story of a puppy mill survivor!
The toys, it's all about the toys! My name is Alfie, which is short for Alphonse Einstein. My start in life was pretty rough, as I was born in a Wisconsin puppy mill. I was then sold at a dog auction, but luckily I was rescued by the Clark County Humane Society in Neillsville, Wisconsin. It was so scary!! I also had a leg injury, as my bones were very weak due to malnutrition at the puppy mill. The break did not heal and they had to amputate my leg. I was pretty sure that ended my chance at finding a forever home. What chance did I have that anybody would adopt a scared 3-legged dog? But I bounced back better than anybody expected. I had a long recovery time at the Shelter. Pretty soon the Shelter's Director and his wife were madly in love with me and adopted me. I now have a wonderful home! I have lots of room to run around and a big sister named Reyna (she's a Sheltie/Elkhound mix). I can run so fast on three legs that nobody can catch me! But the most important thing I learned is that it's important to have lots of toys. They are so fun to chase and chew that I can play for hours. I love to grab my favorites and shake them till they can't take it anymore! My life is awesome now. Having three legs doesn't stop me from being a normal dog at all. I want to tell the world that helping a puppy mill survivor is the best thing you can do. We appreciate our family, love, and freedom more than you could ever imagine. Each day that we get to share your heart and home is a blessing. I’m the luckiest guy around!
