Bonny
Walking out my front door, I saw a small grey and white streak of fur and heard pitiful meowing. A kitten came running right up to me, still crying, and then I saw her problem. Her poor little tail was half gone and several more inches were hairless and scabby; the tip was black and obviously infected. Her friendliness surprised me. We certainly didn't want a pet at this time, but I knew I had to get her out of the freezing rain and take her to the vet to get her tail fixed or she could suffer and die. I was shaking like a leaf as I drove the scared little cat to the vet, realizing that this kind of situation is exactly why I didn't want a pet
The next day I made another anxious drive to pick up my poor 8 month old kitten with the bobbed tail and belly stitches, a cone around her head, a shaved arm from an IV, and needle pricks from innoculations. Just thinking about her suffering made my stomach lurch. I'm a real wimp,
Our plan was to keep this kitty only until she healed, but it's now been two months since Bonny found us. She is ours forever, winning us over with her sweet personality, extreme intelligence and affection. We were happily surprised at how quickly she learned manners about staying off kitchen counters and tables and being gentle with her claws. Like a puppy she follows me everywhere and her favorite sleeping place is in my arms, pressing her small, 6 lb body close to my heart. We love her and pamper her as she deserves.
No I didn't want or need a kitty, but Bonny wanted and needed me!

Over four million animals are put to death each year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted.
