BUY WITH CONFIDENCE--it's cute, works well, and you CAN reuse it. A clear liquid in the paw means that you click the metal oval inside the paw to heat it. An opaque/hard paw means immerse in boiling water for 5 minutes to heat it. Basically, you must alternate between the metal clicker and the boiling water method. It gets hotter with the boiling water than it does with the metal clicker, but not too hot, and I used a dry washcloth between it and my skin to be safe. It stays hot for about 15+ minutes.

I bought this a few weeks and I got it to work once but, now it is solid as a rock and I can't get it to work again. I wish that the directions were on the paw as I lost the packaging.

Cute and good idea, but smaller than I thought so a little pricey. Gave as a gift and haven't heard how they work, but I'm glad it helped feed animals anyway!
