Baby sea lions need your help!
So far this year, more than 1,800 malnourished sea lion pups have been found on California's coast. Already that's more than were found in all of 2013, which was a record year for strandings. Though scientists have not yet settled on a root cause, above-average ocean temperatures have had heavy impact on the food chain. Rehabilitation centers are flooded.
The Pacific Marine Mammal Center (PMMC) is nearly at maximum capacity, taking in a tremendous number of stranded and starving pups. They are currently caring for 119 sea lions. These animals are severely malnourished and dehydrated, and will require intensive care for 2-4 months before they can safely be released.
The expenditure of resources for food, medicine, medical staff, space, and transportation to and from the beaches is staggering. Your donation during this critical time can make an incredible difference to the lives of these baby sea lions, and directly result in happy endings like the one in the video below.
Please donate to help PMMC and these pups. Just $15 provides food for a pup for one day, bringing it a step closer to health and a return to its wild home.
Why a Gift That Gives More™ is a smart, effective donation.
