Handaru Baskoro heralds the holiday season with a festive set of ornaments. They are carved from local klepu wood (leichhardt wood) and adorned with classic Javanese batik motifs including the eight-pointed rosette kawung formerly reserved for sultans. The buketan ("flower motif") features flowing lines while cecek patterns feature dots. The fourth is Truntum, symbolizing awakening love.
Legend has it there once lived a queen who had long enjoyed her king's love. She began to feel neglected when the king took a new mistress, so to forget her sadness and loneliness, she queen began to do batik. She designed a pattern featuring stars in a dark sky, and in her loneliness, the stars became her intimate friends. The queen's batik so impressed the king, he fell in love with the queen again.
