Team Rescue Bank dribbled it's way to the kibble in our first matchup and will be moving onto the Championship Round. They'll face the winner of this week's matchup - Animal Medical vs. A Shot at Life. In this match A Shot at Life has been throwing up lifesaving shots while the Animal Medical team is executing plays with surgical precision. Your donations made between March 21st - March 27th will determine if team A Shot at Life gets to move on to face Rescue Bank in the Championship Round. No matter who comes out on top, shelter animals all win!By YOU donating today, you can help provide lifesaving vaccines for animals in need.
According to the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), between 6 and 8 million dogs and cats will be left at shelters each year. Animals that are healthy, well-fed, and disease-resistant have much better odds of finding a happy forever home.
Preventable diseases like kennel cough or feline herpesvirus can stop an adoption in its tracks — not to mention being a danger to unprotected populations in the shelter. Although shelters try to meet the needs of their animals, they may not be able to afford a timely delivery of much-needed vaccinations.
With your help, Greatergood.org is working to change that. Together, we can vaccinate 2 million shelter animals, protecting them from common, contagious, preventable diseases. We challenge you to help us give shelter pets a shot at life.
You can make a difference! Just $10 vaccinates 5 shelter pets.
Update from the Field
The 400 DA2PP vaccines Animal House received through this grant have helped us save more lives and keep dogs healthy. In July and August this year we could take in 170 dogs from overburdened shelters across the country.
One family of dogs we could help was a momma terrier mix named Tabitha and her six new born puppies, who a local open admission shelter did not have the space or resources for. Tabitha and her puppies were cared for in one of our amazing foster homes until they were ready for adoption. While in our care for over 8 weeks, they received all needed preventive care including multiple vaccinations, microchips, parasite treatment, and spay neuter surgery. They have all been happily adopted!
Out of the countless happy endings we get to facilitate, "Happy" is another example of a special dog we could help. Happy is a 2-year-old mix breed dog who came to Animal House from a rescue partner in Oklahoma. She had a severely deformed front leg that needed amputation. She recovered very well after her surgery, and was quickly adopted into her forever home. Of course, before adoption, she was provided vaccinations and extensive veterinary care. The help of the donated vaccines helped off-set the cost of the additional medical care she needed.
